Since the early 1900's the Minocqua public fishing pier located at the Northeast end of the Minocqua bridge has been a scenic beacon for tourists and locals alike.
In recent years the slow deterioration of the pier has sparked safety concerns, prompting debate on the future of this iconic landmark.
In March the town shortened the 303' pier to 250' in an effort to ensure safety while avoiding a costly replacement process.
The next step is to send a diver to cut the underwater pillars to avoid any boating hazards. Our local fishing expert says fishing enthusiasts shall not fret!
The shortening of the pier should not have any significant effects on the fishing at this beloved spot.
