Pawesome Northwoods Pup Of the Month-STITCH
For our first ever Pawesome Northwoods Pup of the Month we are featuring a true legend in the Northwoods community, Stitch, from the Vilas County K9 Program!
Stitch is a four-year-old Belgian Malinois residing in Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin who traveled all the way from the Czech Republic to be Deputy Amanda Drewsen's partner in crime (pun intended).
Stitch and Drewsen went through an extensive 14-week training program at McDonough K9 in Blaine, Minnesota where Stitch was dual-certified, meaning he is trained in narcotics detection, search and track, and criminal apprehension(bite). He is certified through the National Police Canine association with mandatory annual recertification.
When Stich isn't busy fighting crime in Northern Wisconsin, you will catch him enjoying typical lake dog activities like swimming in the summer and chasing powder turns in the winter.
Just in case you aren't already impressed, Stitch is also trained in obedience and agility work including jumping, crawling and climbing. He can run an incredible 37 mph and earns extra cool points for having a tattoo on his ear!
The Vilas County K9 program is almost entirely donation based with the handlers being responsible for all training, certification, deployments and K9 care. If you love the work these two are doing donations can be sent to the Vilas County Sherrif's Office K9 program at:
