A frenzy broke out on social media in late September when a local woman posted a picture of a deer in Arbor Vitae who appeared to have started his Halloween celebrations pre-maturely and had a plastic jack-o-lantern stuck on its head.
Dubbed "Pumpkin" by locals, the elusive deer was spotted several times over the course of a few days and appeared to be losing weight, leading to combined effort of the Wisconsin DNR, Minocqua Police Department and anybody who spotted Pumpkin to try and help the deer remove his mask.
Apparently, Pumpkin is a fan of the "trick" part of trick or treating as he freed himself and the mask was found in someone's yard a few days after his initial appearance.
